The Cebu cable-stayed bridge (CCLEX), built by ACCIONA in the Philippines, has been awarded at the Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards, organized by the American Concrete Institute (ACI).

The objective of these awards is to celebrate innovation and inspire excellence throughout the global community dedicated to concrete design and construction.

International collaboration

Built by the Cebu Link Joint Venture (CLJV) consortium, formed by ACCIONA, First Balfour, Inc. and D.M. Consunji, Inc., this bridge is a testament to Philippine engineering excellence and international collaboration.

Construction of this iconic bridge began in July 2018 and was officially opened to traffic in April 2022. The project used more than 185,000 cubic meters of concrete and 33,000 kilos of steel, with mix designs based on the principles of sustainability, durability, timeliness and localization.

Sustained recognition

This latest international recognition adds to previous awards received by CCLEX at the Philippine Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards (PECCA), where it received the main prize in 2024, in addition to being the winner in the Infrastructure category in 2023.
