ACCIONA’s Water business took part in the event “Innovations in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for a Sustainable Future”, held at the Andaz Hotel in Doha on October 19 and 20. The conference was organized by Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Texas A&M University in Qatar, in collaboration with the American Chemical Society Qatar Chapter, under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, former Minister of Energy and Industry.
The event brought together experts, researchers, and industry professionals to explore the crucial role of chemistry and chemical engineering in advancing sustainability and addressing global challenges.
ACCIONA was represented by Guillermo Hijós, O&M Director for the Middle East and Oceania, who presented on the topic “Eight Years of Large-Scale Seawater Reverse Osmosis Desalination in Qatar.” His presentation highlighted ACCIONA’s extensive experience and technological innovation in the operation and maintenance of large desalination plants, emphasizing the company’s contribution to ensuring sustainable water resources in the region.
In addition to the main sessions, the event featured specialized workshops on additive manufacturing and decarbonization, further underscoring the importance of innovation and cross-sector collaboration in achieving a sustainable future.
